Hope for Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers. Today there are chemo and radiation
drugs used for some pancreatic cancers. Rarely is surgery performed.

But there are medical doctors who have had great success treating pancreatic cancer for the last 100 years. Don't believe me? Here you go:

The embryologist Dr. John Beard proposed in 1906 that pancreatic proteolytic digestive enzymes represent the body's main defense against cancer. www.alternative-doctor.com/cancer/beard

William Donald Kelley, a dentist from Grapevine, Texas, cured himself of pancreatic cancer in the sixties, largely using Beard's theories, and went on to develop a nutritionally-based, do-it-yourself home cure for cancer which is probably over ninety per cent effective in patients who have not been overly destroyed by chemotherapy and orthodox treatments

Dr. Kelley went on to treat cancer patients for twenty years with a complicated nutritional therapy based on Beard’s enzyme treatment. His work was documented and subsequently researched by Dr Nicholas Gonzalez. Dr Gonzalez identified 22 patients from Dr. Kelley's group. For all of these patients, Dr. Gonzalez obtained complete medical records, including death certificates for those who were deceased. He interviewed all surviving patients repeatedly and at length, and interviewed family members in the case of those who had died.

Ten of these patients had visited Kelley only once and had never followed the protocol: these individuals had been discouraged from proceeding largely because of the negative influence of family and physicians who thought Kelley to be an outright fraud. This population, with a median survival of only 60 days, served as a convenient control. Little did they know, their reluctance to try enzyme therapy would result in their use as negative control group data

Among the remaining 12 patients, Dr. Gonzalez found a number who had survived far beyond what would be expected for the disease, including one patient with pancreatic cancer to the liver who had, when last contacted, been alive over twenty years from her original diagnosis.

Later Gonzalez visited Kelley whereupon Kelley made available all of his records, well over 10,000 patients, and was encouraged by Kelley to contact any and all of them. On his trip to Texas, Gonzalez was astonished to find case after case of appropriately diagnosed advanced metastatic cancer patients who were healthy and active five, ten, and 15 years after diagnosis. http://www.dr_gonzalez.com/maver_article.htm

In July 1993, Dr. Gonzalez was approached by Nestle Corporation to pursue a pilot study of enzyme therapy methods in ten patients suffering inoperable adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, with survival as the endpoint. He was told that if three of ten patients lived a year, that would be considered a positive result. Nestec (the Nestle Corporation) agreed to fund the trial, which began in January 1994.

The study was published in the June 1999 issue (Volume 33, Number 2) of Nutrition and Cancer. Of 11 patients followed in the trial, 8 of 11 suffered stage IV disease.

  • 3 died within one year
  • 3 lived more than one year
  • 1 lived 2 years
  • 2 lived 3 years
  • 2 lived longer than 4 years

In comparison, in a trial of the drug gemcitabine, of 126 patients with pancreatic cancer not a single patient lived longer than 19 months.

This astounding success was accomplished with digestive enzymes alone. Just imagine if these patients had added enzyme rich foods and measured their personal pH to achieve alkalinity. In other words, what if the enzyme therapy were carried over into diet?

Dr Nicholas Gonzalez continues to treat cancer patients in New York City and is lauded by his patients including Suzanne Somers, the bioidentical hormone proponent as well as attacked by his peers.

Energy Boosting/Energy Zapping

Energy Boosting Foods

1.) Water - The easiest, fastest, most effective thing you can do for your body is
hydrate. Your intestines require several gallons of water each day to process the food
you intake. Your brain synapses operate off electric currents dependent on hydration.
Your brain works better when you drink water.

2.) Raw Fruit - Once again, the easiest thing to do for your health is grab a raw piece of fruit.
You can walk into Starbucks, 7-Eleven or any grocery store and buy a banana, apple, pear,
orange or grapes. It's cheap and healthy any time of the day.

3.) Olive Oil - Slather your next meal in olive oil. If the kids order pizza, grab a piece, shred some raw spinach over it, add some sea salt and dip it in extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin means raw therefore the enzymes are still intact. Use olive oil and sea salt only on a baked potato; it takes it to a new high!

4.) 80% of the immune system is housed in the gut. Do something kind to your intestines. Eat a raw vegetable salad. Find 6 raw veggies that you can cut up and throw over some spinach and eat it with olive oil and lemon juice only.

5.) Nuts - Go to Sam's and buy a huge bag of walnuts. Put them in snack baggies and grab one every morning. When you are sitting in your car listening to your AEA, fill your body with good proteins. Nuts are a fabulous source of fiber. The more raw and organic the better!

Energy Zapping Foods

1.) Soda - All sodas are instantly acidic to your body. Your body is only healthy when the pH is alkaline. The opposite of alkaline is acidic. If you want to keep gaining weight, keep losing your mojo around 3pm and keep feeling a brain fog, then you can blame it on soda. I know it says it has 0 calories but that doesn't mean it has zero harm!

2.) Meat - I know you are meat eaters but be careful with the number of times you eat meat each day. If you eat a breakfast taco with sausage for breakfast, a chicken caesar salad for lunch and an enchilada for dinner you have had pig, chicken and cow. You have put over 16 ounces of animal flesh into your colon where it will remain until you eat something to eliminate it. Be careful with stalling your digestive system this many times per day.

3.) Anything eaten after 8pm - Your body wants to shut down the digestive system for the day about the same time the sun goes down. This starts the detox/cleaning process we call sleep. In spite of your daily sins, your digestive system is miraculously self-healing if you give it a chance. Commit your crimes before 8pm. Fast from all food and beverages from 8pm until waking. Try moving the fasting start up by 1/2 hour each week.

4.) Stick to wine and limit it to 3 days a week - The media loves to talk about the medicinal benefits of wine and alcohol but the truth is, it's all sugar. Alcohol increases your glycemic load, it kicks your pancreas into high gear and your body releases insulin. If you do this too many days in a row the insulin starts to release before the alcohol is consumed. Now you will feel a craving for something bready, sweet or alcoholic. Stop the insanity. Teetotalers are healthier than drinkers.

5.) White bread - The human body has no nutritional use for white flour. If I gave you the list of items with white flour in them you would soon discover you have never had a meal that does not have white flour in it. Your body will either store white flour as fat or line your intestines with it. Look for corn tortillas, tortilla chips, potato chips, Fritos or better yet, skip the bread. If you want to get crazy, buy spelt tortillas, quinoa pasta, rice spaghetti or gluten free chips.

Cancer: Past, Present, Future

My father in law told a horrific story last night. He is 78 years old and watched his grandfather die of cancer. He said he doesn't remember being told what type of cancer. Every time his mother took him to the hospital, his granddad was missing another appendage. The doctors cut off his limbs as the cancer progressed.

I believe we will look back on cancer treatment in the year 2010 and harangue ourselves for our gullibility. We will look back and see that doctors followed the old adage, "Insure heavily and burn."

Currently, people who are diagnosed with cancer are counselled on three methods of "cure": chemo, surgery and radiation. It is considered a cure for the patient to live 5 years after these treatments. I don't believe this is any less barbaric than amputation of limbs.

In the future we will harness the immune system to fight cancer.
  • we will consider cancer an external invader and assist the miraculous human body in expunging the beast
  • we will counsel from both sides of medicine both traditional and alternative
  • we will consider the soul and prayer when researching a cure
  • we will harness the cancer itself to create a vaccination personally suited to the patient
  • we will challenge the patient to cure himself with oxygenation and foods which supply oxygen to the blood
  • we will require abstinence from foods that are carcinogenic, preservative-laden and chemical based
  • we will acknowledge the role of sugar and protein in cancer growth
  • we will intake only alkaline producing foods to push pH levels toward alkalinity

I can see it now!

To My Loved Ones

Mark and girls, Mom and Dad, Mary, Tracy, friends
Pris, Cindy, nieces and nephews, Brie, John and Di.......

You know I believe that cancer can be cured nutritionally. This blog is all about it.

As you know, I have a little ministry helping my neighbors and friends through their health scares with nutrition and immune boost information.

But I need to tell you something. I talk to people who have terrible cancers and terrible auto-immune diseases: pancreatic cancer, undiagnosed diseases, chronic skin and sinus trouble, melanoma. And they say the stupidest things to me. They say, "Well, I'm taking these drugs and so I'll think about nutrition after these drugs cure me." They say, "Well, I don't see how what I put in my mouth could possibly affect this huge cancer I have." They act like the disease is not their fault, not a result of their lifestyle and that it happened to them like magic.

Then they get desperate. The drugs don't work, the cancers all come back and then they want some recipes. They're not sure they won't need a little glass of wine to cope but in the meantime they "might consider" juicing.

I need to tell you, the ones I love the most: I will not stand for this. If you ever get sick, I will not take NO for an answer.

Tracy, Sharon, Mary, Deb: I will rip you from your homes and put you in my backhouse. I will juice for you and feed you kale until you crap a brick. You will poop your cancer out in 30 days in my backhouse and then I will humbly return you to your husband cancer-free. I guaran-damn-tee you.

Sweetie, Girls: I will not let them cut you open, do chemo or radiation. That crap never works and everyone is just astounded when it doesn't. We will always, as a family, treat a broken leg or a car accident through a good medical doctor. But if, even after all I've fed you, you still get an auto-immune disease, I will make you eat the rainbow of vegetables regardless of what your tastebuds want. There will absolutely be no more pizza and cookies on the weekends and you will drink the most god-awful concoction of herbs you've ever seen. But you will be well in 30 days and you can just tell your friends your mother is a witch doctor and nobody will be the wiser.

Mom and Dad, Di and Brie and John: If you get sick, there will be never ending Hell to pay if you do not abide by every single thing I tell you to put in your mouth. You will be under the care of a chiropractor, not a M.D. You will have aromatherapy and carrot juice. I could care less whether you believe in it or not. God doesn't care whether you believe in Nature. Nature is there.....ignore it at your peril. The juice and herbs will make you well and then maybe your brain won't be so damaged as to think you can take a drug and make yourself well.

I'm just warning you.
Love Sheila/Mommy/Aunt Sheila.

The New American Sport of Gluttony

I think we are being lazy in our food choices. We are going with the norm. Rethink your food. Here are 4 foods that people consider to be healthy but are, in actuality, junk food. These are foods touted by traditional medical doctors as healthy or "just fine" that result in harm to your immune system. I think we eat them in mass amounts because we are too lazy to find a healthier alternative. Check out the list below. I'll give you the break down, the bad news and the truly healthy alternative.

Chicken - We love to pat ourselves on the back for eschewing red meat only to down gobs of fake animal fat. Watch the movie Food Inc. Read the book The Omnivore's Dilemna. Chicken sold by your local grocer is just a hormone laden, genetically modified hunk of fat and salt. Even if you buy free-range, organic chicken, you need to be very careful. The human body only responds to a limited amount of chicken protein during your lifetime. By the time our kids reach 21 they will have eaten 400 chickens in the form of chicken fingers, honey seared chicken, chicken fajitas, Chic-Fil-A, BBQ chicken pizza etc. Do you have the blood type to properly break down the chicken with your own enzymes? Are you adding protein to your blood or are you adding trash to your colon?
Alternatives: beans, nuts, organic eggs. If you must eat chicken, prepare it yourself: you will eat organic, eat less, and dress it in fewer carcinogenic preservatives.

Pasta - My oh my! Please understand that you are eating a gob of paste. There is nothing "whole wheat" about pasta unless you buy a stalk of wheat and grind it yourself. Our American packaging laws allow us to call anything "whole wheat".
Alternatives: try rice spaghetti, quinoa pasta, spelt lasagna or just plain rice, quinoa and spelt in their whole grain forms.

Yogurt - Probably the most highly touted diet food that has been horribly tainted by the manufacturers. Once again, if you take cows milk and age it with enzymes and then eat the resulting tangy and tart result, then OK. But buying Stoneyfield farms banana coconut organic yogurt is just buying another sugary cow's milk product. The amount of animal flesh that Americans consume is frightening. Ask yourself, how many cows and chickens did God allot each man for nourishment? Are you sure your body operates at optimal energy on cow for breakfast (cereal, sausage, yogurt), chicken for lunch (Chi-Fil-A, chicken Caesar salad) and cow and chicken for dinner (grilled chicken, fettucine alfredo, ice cream for dessert)?
Alternative: the healthy part of yogurt is lactobaccillus acidopholous. Buy it as a vitamin for healthy intestinal flora.

Iced Tea - I love iced tea. But let's make sure you understand what iced tea is not:; water. That's right. People tell me all the time that they get plenty of water during the day because they drink tea: tea is dehydrating, water is hydrating. Tea and water are polar opposites. tea that contains Sweet-n-Low, Equal or Spenda is acidic to your body and blocks the adrenal glands. Tea that is pre-mixed in a bottle such as Snapple, NesTea, VitaminWater and Arnold Palmer is just flat out junk food
Alternative: water!

"When my early musical heroes offered me drugs and
alcohol when I was a teenage musician, the discipline and guidance of my loving
mom and dad fortified me to make the right choices, and I remained clean and
sober through it all. No drugs, no alcohol, no tobacco, healthy food,
mostly wild game in responsible quantities, and a thoughtful regimen of care for
my sacred temple, mind, body, spirit and soul.

I can still dance and whoop it up better than anybody,
jam on my guitars like an animal possessed and am more energized than ever
before. It appears to be unnatural, but in fact, it is perfectly natural,
considering the intelligent choices I have always made.

I could be hobbled and goofy from substance abuse, but
I am not. I could be fat, soft and slow thanks to the new American sport
of gluttony, but I am not. I rock off royally at this age because I chose
to take care of myself and laugh in the face of the sheep who so foolishly
bought into the lie of peer pressure.

My name is Ted Nugent, and I have no peers, thank
you."

Amber Waves of Grain

The CSPI recently came out with a list of 5 hyped foods which, as it turns out, are not good for us. The CSPI is the Centers for Science in the Public Interest. The foods they de-bunk are granola, smoothies, canned vegetable juice (specifically V8), pita chips and energy bars. I concur.

What is so fascinating about this list is this: there is such a thing as a nutritious granola, but packaging laws or moreover, the lack of packaging laws makes it possible for anyone to call a hunk of white flour and sugar by the name "granola". You can even say it is a "whole grain". You can call it "God's gift to Life Whole Grain Granola" and the first two ingredients are allowed to be white flour and white sugar. Go figure.

I do not believe anybody on the planet should ever for any reason put white flour, white sugar or white salt in their bodies. All of these 5 hyped foods in their store-bought form contain one of them.

And yet, products are continuously packaged as "healthy choices" and "whole grains". Here is what they actually contain. A raw whole "amber wave" of wheat is blowing in the wind. Let's say it is never dusted with insecticides or chemical fertilizers. As it grows to maturity it is plucked. If you ate it right away, it would be good for you. It would be nutritious and edifying, albeit dry. You would be eating living enzymes and it would speed through your digestive tract releasing vitamins, minerals and adding fiber to your colon. It would create health and then quickly eliminate the roughage through your colon taking with it any excess debris thus creating a healthier immune system. Goody.

But this is what actually happens. That same stalk of wheat is plucked. The whole grain kernel consists of bran, germ and endosperm. The bran and germ are separated from the endosperm. The bran which contains Fiber, B vitamins and trace minerals is sold at a premium price to health food stores. The wheat germ is full of essential nutrients: rich in Vitamin E, folic acid, phosphorous, thiamin, zinc and magnesium. But that too is sold at a premium to health food stores. What is left is the endosperm which contains only carbohydrate and a trace amount of protein: no minerals, Fiber or nutrients. The endosperm is then ground into flour and colored with a whitening agent.

Flour is used in almost every single product in the grocery store packaged foods section: pasta, bread, croutons, pancakes, cupcakes, crackers and cookies.

Flour is also used in breading. Restaurants serve a flour product in almost every dish: chicken fried steak, chicken fingers, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, onion rings, enchiladas, fried calamari, fried cheese, croutons, tuna sandwich, ramen noodles, grilled cheese, quessadillas, spaghetti and all pastas.

Most American breakfast/lunch/snack foods contain flour: granola bars, energy bars, bagels, donuts, croissants, muffins, pita chips, pita pockets, sandwich bread, Wheat Thins.

If you look at the standard daily diet of 3 meals and one snack per day, guess how many times the average American consumes wheat flour? Yep, 4. Consider the consequences: what happens when you consume an indigestible, un-nutritious substance 4 times per day for a lifetime? Refined wheat flour is indigestible. It turns to yeast in the small and large intestines. Yeast becomes a breeding ground for bad cells, parasites, undigested meat and cheese. These in turn become disease: diverticulitis, constipation, reflux, fat, cancer.

Is it no wonder that Americans are fat and cancerous? We buy into the idea that all boxed food marketed as a "healthy whole grain choice" is OK and we eat it 4 times per day.

STOP EATING FLOUR. You will completely change your health, change your weight, change your risk of cancer and can start to eliminate the diseases brewing in your yeast filled colon. STOP EATING FLOUR.

Does Excercise Make You Lose Weight?

Let's face it: we exercise so we won't get fat. Some of us love it. Granted, we all feel good after the fact, but who has an hour everyday to drive to the gym, sweat, take a shower, dress and then face the day?

And does exercise make you lose weight? In my 50 years of personal experience I would have to say no. It makes me feel better. It can be fun from time to time. But it also makes me hungrier. Worse, it gives me a great excuse to reward myself with certain foods. Is there a better way?

10 years ago I changed the way I eat and that changed my body in exactly the way I had always hoped exercise would change it. I lost 20 pounds. I gained enormous energy; so much energy that I have trouble sleeping longer than 6 hours some nights. And most bizarrely: I gained muscle tone. Wierd but true.

Here's how it works: I eat right and exercise. I eat a vegan/celiac diet. I cheat on 1 meal and 5 snacks per week out of a total of 21 meals and 7 snacks. I walk 20 minutes in the morning.

Here's what I do not do: I don't pay money to exercise - my body weight and the great outdoors provide enough "resistance training" by themselves. I don't go to a class that meets only at certain hours. I can walk at whatever time I wake up in the morning. I don't have appetite increases due to excess lactic acid in sore muscles. I don't reward myself for working out because mentally I have not done anything I didn't want to do. I don't fling my body around for "aerobic activity" which is counter to my personal nature or ability. I do a few push ups now and then when it is cold because I want to. I never worry about my weight or my clothes fitting - I wear the exact same pants I bought 15 years ago. (Fashion be damned!)

"'You just have to understand what exercise can
and cannot do. In general, exercise by itself is pretty useless for weight
loss', says Eric Ravussin, a professor at the Pennington Biomedical Research
Center in Baton Roughe, LA and an expert on weight loss. 'It's especially
useless because people often end up consuming more calories when they
exercise.'"

"In a completed but unpublished study conducted
in his energy-metabolism lab, Barry Braun, an associate professor kinesiology at
the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and his colleagues had a group of
volunteers spend and entire day sitting. If they needed to visit the
bathroom or any other location, they spun over in a wheelchair. Meanwhile,
in a second session, the same volunteers stood all day, 'not doing anything in
particular', Braun said, 'just standing.'

The difference in energy expenditure was
remarkable, representing 'hundreds of calories', Braun says. Standing, for
both men and women, burned multiple calories but did not ignite hunger.
One thing is going to become clear in the coming years, Braun says: If you
want to lose weight, you don't necessarily have to go for a long run. Just
get rid of your chair."

Vegans and Cancer

Vegans are people who do not eat animal flesh or animal by-products. Vegans do not eat meat, chicken, poultry, pork, eggs, milk, yogurt or cheese. Why be a vegan? Some do it for the love of animals. Some do it for health reasons. All vegans benefit because their rates of cancer are drastically lower than the general populace.

"If you change to a vegan diet, and do it very
vigorously, you have enormous power... You can, I believe, prevent most cases of
cancer if you combine dietary changes with avoiding tobacco. You could
prevent probably 70% to 80% of cancers, just by those steps alone. And,
obviously, there's a whole host of other diseases that you would be able to live
without."

Neil Barnard, M.D.
Turn Off the Fat Genes

One curious aspect of being a vegan is that you also cut down on restaurant food. A die-hard vegan can eat very little in a traditional restaurant and is limited even in a vegetarian-friendly environment. Here's why: a vegetarian eats butter, cheese, eggs and milk. Some eat fish. Because a vegetarian diet is considered strict to most Americans, restaurants tend to flood a vegetarian dish with pasta, cheese, eggs and butter. So a true vegan cannot eat a meal labeled "vegetarian" by a restaurant.

"Women with the highest fruit and vegetable intakes
have better ovarian cancer survival rates than those who generally neglect these
foods, according to a new study in the Journal of the American Dietetic
Association. Researchers examined food patterns prior to ovarian cancer
diagnosis in 341 Illinois women. They found that yellow and cruciferous
vegetables, in particular, contributed to longer survival, whereas consumption of
dairy products and red and processed meats shortened lifespan. The authors
concluded that low-fat, plant based diets are not only beneficial for cancer
prevention - they may also play a role in increasing survival time after
diagnosis."

www.vegetarian.org

Is it too late to become a vegan once you have been diagnosed with cancer? Absolutely not!

"Daily consumption of fresh fruit was associated with a
reduced mortality from all cancers combined."

www.vegetariannutrition.net

But the real question is this: why are vegan cancer rates so much less than the general public? All fingers point to meat. Yes, tobacco, alcoholism, drug use etc will make you sicker and older faster. But from a purely nutritional perspective the difference between a vegan and the average American is consumption of meat; the difference between rates of cancer in a vegan versus a meat-eating American are off by 50-80% meaning vegans get cancer less than half the time Americans in general get cancer.

"High consumption of meat, especially red meat and
processed meat, is linked with higher risk of bowel, breast, prostate, and
pancreatic cancer. There is some evidence of an association with lung
cancer, and of an association of barbecued meat and oesophageal cancer.
This British study also concluded that up to 80% of bowel and breast cancer may
be preventable by dietary change."

William Harris, M.D.
www.vegsource.com

What's so bad about meat? Actually, nothing is wrong with eating wild animals that have lived their lives running free and eating according to their natural instincts. If the wild animal was then killed, bled properly and cooked in whole food condiments with no flour, preservatives or synthetic fats, then one serving per week (eaten after a prayer of thanks) would nutritionally edify.

But Americans have 3 servings of hormone-laden animal fat per day. A bagel with cream cheese, a tuna melt for lunch and grilled chicken with pasta for dinner sounds normal and even wholesome. But our current methods of chicken and dairy production turn our daily diets into a dangerous injection of growth hormones, antibiotics and steroids.

"A six-year study of 88,000 nurses by Boston's
Brigham and Women's Hospital found that those who ate meat every day were more
than twice as likely to get colon cancer as those who avoided
meat."

New England Journal of Medicine
13 December 1990

"An 11-year-long German study involving more than 800
vegetarian men found their cancer rates were less than half those of the general
public. The lowest cancer rates were found in those who had avoided meat
for 20 years or more. Studies in Japan and Sweden also have shown lower
risk among vegetarians. A 2007 study of more than 35,000 women
published in the British Journal of Cancer found that women who ate the most
meat were more likely to develop breast cancer than women who consumed the
lowest amount of meat. It seems that with every bite of meat, we increase
our risk of cancer."

Condiments 101

Change the nutritional value of your condiments and you can completely change your health.
If you take a different approach to dressing your food, you will be making the biggest and easiest change to your health. For instance, most people know how to cook the basics: a baked potato, pasta, steamed rice and raw salads. But what starts out as a healthy choice becomes a conduit for sugar, fat and salt once you dress it. A baked potato becomes a butter boat with a flotilla of salt. Pasta turns into a white flour glob of preservatives with red dyed ancient tomato dressing. Steamed rice is served with chicken fried chicken. All are instantly acidic to your system.

Stop devaluing your food. Dress it with whole foods.

Throw every single thing in your cupboard and spice drawer into a box. Take the box to the North Texas Food Bank.

Go to Whole Foods or Central Market. Buy:
extra-virgin olive oil (only extra-virgin is raw, the other kinds are cooked)
apple cider vinegar
balsamic vinegar
Bragg's Liquid Aminos
sea salt
white pepper
raw whole black peppercorns in a grinder
paprika, cayenne etc (organic)
fresh dill and fresh basil (from the produce section, keep refrigerated)
Vegennaise or any soy based mayonnaise product
ground mustard
garlic (whole or minced in water)
Mirin (ume plum vinegar)
miso (sweet yellow or red)
tofu (silken, regular or packed)

Now go to the kitchen and bake a potato.
Serve it with olive oil and sea salt. Trust me, it salts and oils the potato better than any bacon/butter combination and will not stick in your gut for days like the other. The first time you forgo the typical condiments will be the hardest. After you taste your first olive oil potato you won't go back, specially after you see how your body reacts!

Cook rice fettuccine in salted water. Rinse in cold water.
Serve with fresh raw pesto: in a blender combine raw garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and raw basil. Serve immediately. Now you have eaten vitamin-laden gluten-free vegan pasta. How do you feel?

Grill a piece of fish in sea salt, white pepper, fresh organic lemon zest and raw minced garlic. Serve over steamed long grain brown rice. Add a shot of Bragg's Liquid Aminos to the rice for an oriental feel. Yum!

Saute onions and kale in olive oil.
Sprinkle with balsamic vinegar and cover to steam/wilt. In a blender place 1/2 cup walnuts, 1/3 cup water, 1 tsp Mirin, 1 tsp miso. Serve walnuts sauce over hot kale and onions. Divine!!!!!!!

Salad 101

Salad is such a broad term. Let's re-define it.
Salad is a bowl of enzyme-rich raw vegetables.

90 salads in 30 days will change your life. Why? Because the vitamins and minerals in raw vegetables eaten with consistency will change your DNA. Don't believe it? Prove me wrong: eat 90 salads in the next 30 days and see for yourself.

So.....what is a salad? Salad is four layers of nutritionally dense vegetables and condiments.

Layer 1: In the bottom of the bowl place chopped veggies, Chop small: carrots, celery, onion, yellow pepper and tomatoes. Notice how there is a variety of color represented here: orange, green, white, yellow, red. This ensures a variety of vitamins. This is a great time to introduce a vegetable you have never eaten before. Grab something strange the next time you are in the produce section, chop it up and blend it with things you love. Your body will reward you for giving a new vitamin a chance.

  • raw okra
  • peas: raw snow peas, green peas, lentils

  • fruit including organic raisins and currant (Eat fruit only as a fruit salad)
  • blanched veggies: Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, beets (blanching certain cruciferous vegetables make them easier to digest and enhances their enzyme content)

Layer 2: Dressing. Choose whole food condiments that add health to your salad. Don't use store bought salad dressings that negate the value of your salad. Use 1 tsp raw minced garlic, 1 tsp ground mustard, 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar and 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil to Layer 1. Mix well and stir into chopped vegetable mixture. This allows the hard vegetables to marinade, absorbing the dressing and becoming softer. This vegetable mixture will keep in the refrigerator for 24 hours and is a good way to make salad-eating easier by doing the chopping ahead of time.

  • extra virgin olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  • apple cider vinegar
  • Bragg's Liquid Aminos
  • sea salt
  • pepper: white pepper, whole black peppercorns in a grinder
  • chives
  • garlic
  • fresh parsley, mint, basil, oregano, dill, paprika
  • scallions
  • lemon and lime juice
  • honey
  • maple syrup
  • mashed tomato, avocado
  • raw vegetable juices: celery, tomato, carrot

Layer 3: Leaf vegetables. Using an assortment of raw dark green leafy vegetables will maximize the value of your salad. Hand shred spinach and romaine over the top of your condiments. Let sit without mixing if it will be up to one hour before eating the salad. Otherwise, mix thoroughly. Never use iceberg lettuce - it has no nutritional value and does your body little good to fill up on nutritionally negligible foodstuffs even if they are raw and whole.

Layer 4: Protein. A small amount of protein (4 oz) once a day taken in a salad can be healthful. Try home cooked beans (black, kidney, garbanzo), seared fish-with-fins (tuna, salmon, tilapia) raw nuts (pine nuts, chopped pecans or walnuts) or steamed long grain brown rice. Never mix proteins in a salad, keep total protein to 4 oz and only add protein once a day if even that often.

When a salad is not a salad: taco salad, Caesar salad, spinach salad with bacon dressing. These are great examples of junk food in a bowl. They are not raw, whole, enzyme-rich foods that result in alkalizing your system. These salads are highly acidic due to their cooked, preservative-laden nature. Take chicken Caesar salad as an example: in 99% of restaurants the chicken is not organic and is instantly acidic (as is all animal protein ) to your body; Caesar dressing is made from sugar, oil and cream; the salad is topped with cheese (another animal protein); the croutons are gluten- preservative- and wheat-filled (not whole grains); and it is all served over a small portion of romaine lettuce that has been washed with preservatives to maintain crispness for many hours in the deli case. The nutritional value of this salad is zero.

You know you have created a vitamin bomb to your system when your raw whole food salad

  1. instantly alkalizes your body
  2. satiates your appetite
  3. causes you to poop and
  4. makes you hungry for more raw whole foods.

A vegetable salad has the power to heal. Consider this: homeopathic remedies are derived from herbs, plants, minerals and oils. Add a healing substance to a bowl of raw vegetables and you have the recipe for nutritional healing.

  • garlic and onions for constipation
  • fresh grape juice for kidney problems
  • aloe vera juice for immune disorders
  • black walnuts for yeast
  • peppermint for spasms and cramps

Heal yourself with a refreshing salad.

Avocado Salad

Mash one whole avocado with the juice of one lime and 1/2 tsp sea salt. Serve over shredded red leaf lettuce with diced tomatoes and red onions sprinkled on top.

Fruit Salad

Choose fruits that combine in a healthy fashion: melon like to be alone, all other fruits can be eaten together. Chop in bite sized chunks: apples, bananas, strawberries, blueberries and oranges. Or pomegranate seed, bananas, pears and chopped pecans or poppy seeds. Prepare a dressing from raw local honey, orange juice, berry juice and/or lemon.

Cole Slaw

1 head cabbage

1 red onion

2 bell peppers (different colors)

honey

2 tsp Bragg's Liquid Aminos

lemon juice to taste

4 Tbsp olive oil

Shred cabbage, onion and peppers. Mix wet ingredients for dressing. Keeps in frig for up to 3 days.

A Cancer Theory - Part 3

If cancer is an external invader, not a mutation of DNA; if cancer can be starved by eliminating animal protein, sugar and preservatives; if cancer can be pushed through the digestive system and out the colon, then this is how you do it.

1.) Eat only vegetables, fruit, grains, beans, legumes and water. Eat food in it's highest enzymatic state. Eat fruit raw; eat vegetables raw, juiced or lightly steamed; eat whole grains steamed; eat legumes soaked and cooked; eat beans soaked, boiled and cooked; eat nuts raw.

"The Gerson Therapy recommends a low-fat, salt-free
program of food consumption to supply the body's cells with easily assimilated
nutrients for strengthening one's natural immune defenses. To prevent or
correct most of the fifteen hundred known degenerative disease, the Gerson
Therapy offers an ideal way to eat. In our modern society of processed
packaged foods frequently containing preservatives, additives, dyes and
sometimes outright carcinogens, all forced upon us by accompanying massive
amounts of media propaganda and advertising, the Gerson Therapy admittedly
presents a difficult dining program to follow. Yet if a sick person is
serious about recovery, then adopting the Gerson therapeutic technique does
assure the restoration of wellness.

At the core of the Gerson Therapy is its diet, which
includes dining on organically grown fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking
thirteen glasses of freshly squeezed juices daily, taken at
hourly intervals. The emphasis on organic fresh fruits and vegetables means
the patient receives elevated levels of minerals, enzymes, beta carotene,
vitamins A and C, and other antioxidants that scavenge free radicals. Yet
these foods are recommended to contain no residual pesticides and
fungicides. Most of the diet's followers consume huge amounts of naturally
occurring phytochemicals that scientists have discovered are true preventers of
chronic degenerative diseases."

The Gerson Therapy

2.) Break up the parasite and tumor by ingesting herbs: sheep sorrel, burdock root, slippery elm bark, turkish rhubarb, Essiac, wormwood, black walnut hull extract, cloves.

"The tumor is a well-adapted parasite that hides from
the body's immune system by generating a 'stealth' coating of human chorionic
gonadotropin which provides regional immune suppression. The cancer
pretends to be a fetus and, in doing so, stops the attack by the immune
system. High doses of niacin as inositol hexanicotinate and digestive
enzymes work to dissolve this 'stealth' coating of the tumor. Your body's
immune system is then free to do its job of ridding the body of 'non-self' cells,
such as cancer."

Beating Cancer With Nutrition
Patrick Quillin PhD, RD, CNS

3.) Poop. Disease does not evaporate. It leaves your body in mass by pooping, secondarily by sweating. Sickness also leaves your body through mucous secretions and exhalation but the greatest percentage of toxins is released through urination and poop.

"Because of the interrelationship between immune
function and the intestines, it makes sense that cleansing them has a powerful
disease-modifying effect. In addition, the liver cleanses the blood of
most poisons, which are then excreted into the bile (a fat-dissolving digestive
enzyme), which squirts into the intestines during digestion. Bile, and the
toxins that it contains, is incorporated into the stool. When the stool
doesn't move through the intestines easily and relatively quickly, waste
products accumulate and clog the bowel, which irritates the delicate lining of
the large intestine, allowing waste products and other toxins to be reabsorbed
back into the bloodstream"

7-Day Detox Miracle
Peter Bennett, N.D. and Stephen Barrie,
N.D.

4.) Oxygenate your blood. This can be as simple as taking a walk. Move your body so that your circulation is increased; preferably to the point that you sweat. Increased circulation stimulates the lymph system. A stimulated lymph system stimulates the immune system. Blood and oxygen is rushed to your cells. Cancer cannot live in an oxygenated system.

"When you walk, the movement of your limbs is
cross-patterned; the right leg and the left arm move forward at the same
time, then the left leg and the right arm. This type of movement
generates electrical activity in the brain that has a harmonizing influence on
the whole central nervous system - a special benefit of walking that you do not
necessarily get from other kinds of exercise.

So I am going to pare my advice and comments on
exercise down to one word: Walk! In my opinion, walking is the most
healthful form of physical activity, the one that has the greatest capacity to
keep the healing system in good working order and increase the likelihood of
spontaneous healing in case of illness."

Spontaneous Healing
Andrew Weil, M.D.

5.) Drink water. Hydrated cells are alive with electricity. Hydration rapidly heals cells at the basic level, DNA.

6.) Work hard at this. Every single thing you put in your mouth and on your skin either gives life or takes it away. Be careful what products you use to brush your teeth, clean your skin, wash and condition your hair, color your nails. All of these products can be highly toxic and full of heavy chemicals, pesticides and worse

It is possible to cure yourself nutritionally. Try it.

Heredity

Most people, including doctors, believe in inherent weaknesses in individuals due to faulty genetic structure passed on to the children by the parents. Is this true?

Heredity is the passing of traits to offspring cells such that the cells become predisposed to the characteristics of the parent cells. But much more than genes is passed on to us by our parents. Religious beliefs, rituals, comfort food, cooking traditions, holiday traditions, anger management (or lack thereof), speech patterns, emotional patterns and much more is emulated by the child.

What if cancer, obesity, heart disease and intestinal problems are not physically linked to our genes but linked instead to unhealthy eating patterns created by our parents? What if the link can be severed and healed?

Case #1
George's mother died of colon cancer when she was 42. George's father had a heart attack when he was 42. George, himself, was diagnosed with colon cancer when he was 42. Refusing to believe that his cancer diagnosis was a death sentence, he decided to refuse conventional therapies that had failed for his mother and father. Instead, he researched the cause and a nutritional cure for cancer. His story is at www.hacres.com.

"Let's ask a few questions to stimulate our
thinking. Why do you eat the way you do...why do you use a fork and spoon,
instead of chop sticks or some other instrument to place food into your
mouth? Why do most Americans eat three major meals a day, while in other
parts of the world two and sometimes only one is the norm? Why is the
majority of food that is consumed in America cooked? Why do many people
not consider a meal complete without a sugar dessert?

I don't think it is necessary to ask any more questions
because the answer will probably be the same to them all: That's just the
way I was brought up. Thus we see that tradition has played a great part
in determining what we put into our body and the manner in which it is
consumed."

Why Christians Get Sick
Rev. George H. Malkmus

Case #2
Tim's mother died of cancer and obesity at 50. Tim's father was the owner of a pest control business. He dealt with highly toxic chemicals and pesticides in closed areas on a daily business. Furthermore, his sons including Tim, helped him. Tim's father died of cancer 10 years later. Tim had "uncureable" skin conditions by the time he was 16. Tim decided that he would try anything to rid himself of his skin conditions. He ended up healing himself with diet and herbs.

"'We just love our French fries and bread,' a family
declares while they stuff their faces with the worst kind of
nonfood.

We love our French fries and bread because everyone in
our families sat around and ate them at the dinner table over good conversation
and a few laughs. It was part of the family culture and training, as we
were all taught to eat and drink in the same way. And so we usually got
sick and died in the same way as well.

My brother and I had the same cravings as my mother and
grandmother. Was this a surprise? It was not only hard on our
pancreases, but all that cooked protein had created an overabundance or uric
acid, which helped trash our kidneys. Then, over the years, accumulated
toxins and kidney stones created blockages until our kidneys were no longer
functioning properly, leaving us with frequent backaches, stiffness, and other
symptoms. This was the family history, and each generation got weaker and
more deficient. Grandma had glandular and organ weaknesses from poor
dietary choices, which were passed down to my mother and finally to us.
What a legacy!"

The Cure - Heal Your Body, Save Your Life
Dr. Timothy Brantley

Experiment

Was water your family's drink-of-choice at mealtimes when you were growing up? Or was it milk, soda pop, maybe even wine? Make water the drink-of-choice at mealtimes for yourself, your children and your family events. If you insist on drinking milk or pop, serve it some other time. Serve distilled water, preferably at room temperature at every meal. Ideally, your family should drink a small glass of 4 oz before eating. This hydrates the digestive system and readies it for better digestion.

"When the gradually dehydrating body begins to
malfunction and manifest its water shortage, we label these symptoms and signs
of the body's regional and local drought as diseases or syndromes of unknown
origin. And since the discovery of DNA structure, we now blame genes for a
patient's health problems - obviously not realizing that when any cell begins to
dry up and get damaged from inside, the nucleus in that cell, and its DNA
structure, are not exempt from the process."

The Healing Crisis

So, you've decided to eat right and it's working! The weird thing about cleaning up your body is that the adjustment time can be uncomfortable. Hopefully you are fierce and will push through knowing that if your body is screaming then something good is happening. Here is some down and dirty info on detox.

Caffeine detox - Getting off caffeine is amazing for your body. Caffeine accelerates the growth of tumors. I have a friend who decreased the mass in her breast 80% by getting off caffeine 6 weeks before surgery to remove the tumor. That said, the detox can be rough. At best you will be sleepy and cranky, at worst you won't be able to keep your eyes open for a month. It all depends on how much caffeine you have consumed. If you are sleepy, sleep. If you are sleepy and unable to take the time to lay down, drink distilled water. It is the weirdest "high" you have ever heard of but hydrating your innards gives you an abundance of energy. There are some people who can ease themselves off caffeine gradually by limiting themselves to one cup of coffee in the morning and then after one month, take themselves off coffee/caffeine entirely. God bless'em. If you are an all or nothing person, do it once for all time and do it right! Go for it. You cannot believe the kind of deep sleep that is possible (and the resulting cleansing) when your body is rid of caffeine.

Junk Food - So you started cooking whole foods for yourself. You've even mastered the trick of making "junk food" at home: whole grain non-dairy pizza, "fried" Brussels sprouts. You are a goddess! But you might not be feeling like the champion you are. You might have headaches, diarrhea, constipation, sleeplessness, skin breakouts or even something that feels like the flu. Stay the course. That just means you are on the right track. It will take 10 days to flush your small intestine and up to 30 days to flush your large intestine. Be diligent about staying away from white flour and white sugar. This too shall pass.

Blood-Type Foods - Some of you are "eating right for your blood-type". This can be the oddest detox. When I eliminated corn, avocados, black beans and tomatoes from my daily diet (they're OK for blood type B if eaten once a week) I had a case of what appeared to be gout. I had excess uric acid in my kidneys that manifested itself in razor sharp pains in my right big toe. It was simultaneously fascinating and debilitating. I placed a raw potato in my sock and the pain numbed to a gentle throb for the next 24 hours. I was walking normally again the next day. My kidneys were spewing out uric acid stored from years of eating wrong for my blood type even though I was eating vegan.

Meat - Getting "off" meat can change your body within 3 days. Meat binds muscle. After 3 days without meat, muscles will relax due to the release of toxins and acids. No night cramps or charlie horses, no tight Achilles tendon, no TMJ, no night sweats. When you are off animal protein for 7 days, you sleep deeper and your breath is sweeter. Sweats do not contain as much salt and therefore stink - perhaps none. After a month, ground beef smells like cow dung when cooked. It is strange but, the less animal flesh you have in your system, the more offensive the smell of animal flesh becomes. You will drop weight quickly (perhaps too quickly) and your body will have better muscle tone (sans exercise). Your body will become light and lithe.

Sugar - Sugar detox comes with headaches, mind games, irritability and sleepiness. Thankfully, this is the easiest fastest substance to glean from your system due to it's fast transit time. Substitute 100% raw maple syrup, local honey and stevia. But don't get crazy with the sugar substitutes. Just use them to transition. God intended for you to have a sweet tooth - breast milk tastes sweet! But use fruit as your sugar fix - fruit is God's candy.

Bread - Getting off wheat/gluten is, in my opinion, the most important thing you can do for your health. Your body will thank you a million ways: you will lose weight fast, you will poop 3-4 times a day, you will stop having allergy symptoms, you will stop getting your "annual" cold/sinus infection, you will have spectacular energy, you will be reducing your preservative intake by 90%!!! The benefits are worth all the pain of detox. That said, the pain of abstaining from all flour products is actually not physical so much as social - it will be really difficult to find something to eat in a restaurant or at your friend's home. Therefore, start at the grocery store with a very detailed list. Try to stay away from the packaged "gluten-free" food because packaged foods contain preservatives. Learn to eat off the "side items" menu. Sweet potato fries, red pepper olive oil and steamed spinach at Cafe Express. Loads of salad and grilled veggies when at home.

"The discharges from healing reactions involve several
common types of excesses and toxins; each has specific remedies.
Chlorophyll foods and others which counteract toxins are very helpful general
remedies, especially when coupled with a grain-and-vegetable diet that includes
seaweeds and enzyme-rich products such as sprouts and miso. Sufficient
regular exercise is essential for processing and "burning up" excesses.
When reactions and discharges are especially severe or numerous, it may mean
that the pace of dietary change is too fast.

In some cases, strong reactions will be difficult to
avoid, regardless. Also, chronically ill people will often (wisely)
venture into a more healthful dietary plan, and it is their disease symptoms
rather than their healing reactions that must first be overcome."

Vitamins

God gave you all the vitamins you need in the form of raw whole vegetables, fruits, beans and grains. It's stupid to take a pill.

Your body needs approximately 12 vitamins. These vitamins are contained in whole foods. Spinach does not merely contain iron. In God's wisdom, spinach contains both iron and calcium which are symbiotic but must be ingested in proper proportions to each other. Spinach contains other necessary elements:

"Spinach is a rich source of vitamin A (and lutein), vitamin C, vitamin E,
vitamin K, magnesium, manganese, folate, iron, vitamin B2, calcium, potassium,
vitamin B6, folic acid, copper, protein, phosphorus, zinc, niacin, selenium and
omega-3 fatty acids. Recently, opioid peptides called rubiscolins have
also bee found in spinach. To benefit from the folate in spinach, it is
better to steam it than to boil it."
Wikipedia

Too many people start the day with a handful of supplements and consider themselves healthy regardless of their food choices throughout the day. You cannot cover your nutritional sins by ingesting pills and choosing to drink Starbucks and Diet Coke.

Vitamins consist of two parts: the gelatinous capsule and the powdered vitamin. The gelatin capsule must enter your stomach, be broken down by stomach acids, then the vitamin must be released into the stomach, and used properly for supposed vitamin absorption to occur.

How about this instead: eat nutritionally dense foods which contain the essential elements your body needs according to how God wanted them ingested. God created dark green vegetables to include a miraculous combination of vitamins and oxygen. We are still finding out all the benefits of dark green vegetables. How does kale provide oxygen? Apart from the iron, protein (4 grams) and antioxidants, kale contains chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is what makes kale green. When you eat kale that is properly cooked to maximum enzyme capacity, the chlorophyll goes directly from your stomach into your bloodstream. Chlorophyll in the blood stream supplies oxygen to the blood and, therefore, your vital organs. A well oxygenated body cannot grow cancer.

"Antioxidants occur together naturally in foods and
evidently there is a good reason for it...
One member of the natural vitamin E
family that was left out of the synthetic formulation, gamma-tocopherol, happens
to be a particularly good protector of DNA, the cell genetic code, and it has
additional cardiovascular benefits that alpha-tocopherol left out in the
synthetic formulations, but what's worse is that when one takes in large doses
of alpha-tocopherol (like 400 IU or more), it is very difficult for the body to
absorb the other natural tocopherols that are contained in the diet, because
they compete with each other. Alpha-tocopherol acts kind of like a bully
pushing around its brothers, the other natural tocopherols, so they have a very
hard time getting in the bloodstream."

There is a theory that veggies are grown in soil that has been depleted of its vitamins and therefore we must supplement our vegetable intake with vitamins in pill form. Silly! First of all, I bet the people who are worried about their vegetables being grown in weak soil are skipping the veggies entirely. Secondly, eat vegetables. What do you think? Do you feel depleted? Cucumbers make my hair grow, beets make me poop. I find no deficiencies in the vegetables I'm choosing at Whole Foods.

"But not only do antioxidant supplements fail to
protect against heart disease, stroke and cancer; they actually increase the
risk of death, according to a 2007 analysis of research on more than 232,000
people, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, as well as
other studies."

Feed The Beast

Your cravings are the devil! They will get you in trouble every time. Here's why: it is much more complicated than just lack of personal discipline or weakness of character.

Your cravings are your body's cries for drugs. Everyone has their "drug of choice": caffeine, sugar, salt, fried foods, beer, wine, bread, tobacco, fast food, candy, soda pop. Indulging year after year in feeding your addiction has altered your DNA. Here's how:

If your drug of choice is alcohol then you are basically a sugar addict. Alcohol turns to sugar in your system. When sugar enters your stomach your pancreas produces insulin which metabolizes the sugar. Your body is smart; if your body predicts that every evening around 6pm there will be an influx of sugar, like a good butler, it releases the insulin. The problem becomes when you are trying to abstain from alcohol and your body continues to release the insulin. When your system has too much insulin, it sends a message to your mind to EAT SUGAR! This is to absorb the excess insulin that has been released in your body. Because the mind is easily sated with these "foods", it cannot hear the bodies cries for nourishment.

Nutritional healers have used
  • honey to treat alcoholism
  • chromium and brewer's yeast to treat sugar cravings
  • spicy peppers to induce water craving and thus curb appetite
  • aromatherapy and cooking with fresh herbs to aid in weight reduction
  • psyllium seed to kill cravings for large amounts of food
  • exercise and yoga to curb cravings for fatty foods
  • extra virgin olive oil in cooking and rubbed on the body to satiate fried food cravings

How do you kill the beast?

  1. Flood your body with nutrients. The average American is deficient in Chromium (brown rice, molasses, eggs and potatoes). Calcium must be present in your body in order to process Iron; but you cannot take Iron and Calcium supplements together. Zinc and Selenium are common deficiencies. (fish, kelp, legumes, pecans, edamame, sunflower seeds)
  2. Plan every meal and snack. You will eat crap if you don't have a meal planned, prepared and waiting for you. You will not choose an apple, a handful of walnuts and a liter of distilled water when you go to a restaurant to eat. Get a pen and paper and plan your attack on your food choices. Go to the grocery store with a detailed list and make whole, healthy foods easily available to you 5 times a day in the form of meals and snacks.
  3. Go 30 days without soda pop. Drink water.
  4. Go 30 days without caffeine. Drink water.
  5. Go 30 days without alcohol. Remember, those AA guys do it all the time. They come to your company happy hours and swill a glass of tonic water and lime and smile that knowing smile as everyone around them becomes fat-tongued. See the world from the other side. Nobody, I mean NOBODY, has ever noticed I was drinking non-alcoholic beverages at a party. Trust me, they are only thinking about themselves.
  6. Go 30 days without eating in a restaurant. This is such a quick easy fix for a lot of things: overeating, abstaining from salt and fat, budget management.
  7. Keep a diary. List everything about your current health and weight. Make a note of your emotional/mental state. Keep a list of every morsel that crosses your lips. Note how detoxing from sugar/fat/salt feels. Write down how many days it takes to get over it. Write down how it feels to be clean.

"If you change to a vegan diet, and do it very
vigorously, you have enormous power... You can, I believe, prevent most
cases of cancer if you combine dietary changes with avoiding tobacco. You
could prevent probably 70% or 80% of cancers, just by those steps alone.
And, obviously, there's a whole host of other diseases that you would be able to
live without."
